CONTACT LENSES

Be it for everyday use or just for occasions, we can fit virtually anyone with contact lenses. Don't worry if you’ve tried before or have been told you’re unsuitable or too complicated.
Contact lenses offer freedom from glasses and with new technology, have never been more comfortable to wear.
They are available as daily or monthly replacement so suit full time or occasional wearers.

Improvements in technology mean we can fit a more extensive prescription range and offer more variety than ever before. We can correct astigmatism, fit lenses for bifocal and multifocal wearers as well as fashion lenses. And we encourage all our contact lens patients to try the newer technologies as they come out. We never 'leave well enough alone!'

Do you have dry eye? Talk to our experts about how you could still wear contact lenses and treatments to help relieve your symptoms. Contact us to book an appointment or learn more below.

You could book a comfort trial with Mr Billson if you prefer and find out just how comfortable they are.

Or if you want to have a choice between your spectacles and contact lenses or wear them full time, book a full trial and we’ll get you on your journey to wearing contact lenses.

DAILY DISPOSABLE

Soft contact lenses designed to be worn once and then disposed when removed. Daily disposable lenses are ideal for people who want to wear lenses every day; a couple of times a week or even just at the weekend football game. They are comfortable and extremely versatile.

FREQUENT REPLACEMENT DISPOSABLES

For those that like to wear their contact lenses more frequently, a monthly or two-weekly disposable lens may be better suited. They are designed for daily wear and to be worn more than once with a simple clean at the end of the day.

ASTIGMATISM LENSES

For people with an astigmatism (see our Eye Health page), we may recommend a soft Toric contact lens. They are available in frequent replacement or daily disposable options so can fit into your lifestyle and wearing needs.

PROGRESSIVE (MULTIFOCAL) LENSES

If you are a varifocal spectacle lens wearer your options with contact lenses are much broader than they have ever been before. Multifocal soft contact lenses have been at the forefront of technological improvements in contact lenses, making them more successful and accessible to many more people. Again, they are available as daily or frequent replacement lenses.

GAS PERMEABLE LENSES

Rigid Gas permeable contact lenses are the not often recommended these days as the vast majority of people can be fitted with the soft, more flexible option.

HESITANT TO TRY CONTACT LENSES??
LET’S BUST SOME MYTHS

  1. I don’t like to touch my eye and I’d have to if I had contact lenses.
Nope! No need to ever touch your eye and we’ll show you how.
  2. I’ll always feel as if I have a hair in my eye.
No! Typically within a couple of minutes of first putting the lens ‘on’ (not ‘in’) you won’t even know it’s there. The soft squidgy material the lens is made from is specifically so that the lens is super comfortable and healthier for the eyes.
  3. I don’t have time! It takes for ever to put them ‘on’ and take them ‘off’.
Again…No! We’ll teach you how, and it’s then just a matter of a few seconds to insert or remove and less than a minute if you have lenses that you need to clean.
  4. I’m worried that they’ll get behind my eye!
No problem. It’s impossible for a lens to get behind the eye. The structure of the eye itself prevent this. Talk to us for more information.
  5. Won’t my eye suffocate with plastic over it?
Great question! We love when people are concerned about the health of their eyes. In short…NO! the materials used to make contact lenses have very high water content and very high oxygen permeability. No need for you to have any worries and we’ll give you all the advice you need.
  6. Doesn’t matter. I was told before that I can’t have them.
Maybe several years ago. These days, technology has advanced so much that almost everybody can be fitted with lenses. Even if you have an astigmatism or need glasses to for distance and close work or just have a high prescription. Don’t be put off. Ask again to try some out.
  7. Can a child wear lenses?
We will fit lenses to children from around age 8. It’s really important that the child is in the driving seat. We won’t push them towards lenses if they’re not ready.
